Buyer's Premium:

A set of eight circular porcelain collector plates from the A Child’s Best Friend series, produced by The Hamilton Collection and featuring the artwork of Bessie Pease Gutmann. Each plate is decorated with a transfer-printed illustration depicting a nostalgic scene of a young child or infant, often accompanied by a puppy or dog. The individual designs include: a child in white pyjamas sitting on a bed with a black and white puppy; a boy sitting on a green stool being greeted by a black and tan puppy; a girl in a green dress and white apron holding a doll by a bedside; a child in a white nightgown sleeping on a bed with a brown and white dog; a toddler in a pink outfit playing on the floor with a puppy; an infant in blue pyjamas sleeping on a pillow with a brown puppy; a girl in a white dress feeding a small brown dog from a bowl; and a child in a green outfit crawling up stairs followed by a black and white puppy. Every plate is finished with a gilded rim. The printed signature of Bessie Pease Gutmann is visible within the artwork on the face of the plates. The collection is housed in the original brown cardboard protective shipping boxes with internal cardboard corner supports.

Condition report:

The plates are in excellent, seemingly unused condition. There are no visible chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs to the porcelain. The transfer-printed decorations and gilded rims are well-preserved and remain vibrant. The original cardboard packaging shows minor age-related wear, surface scuffing, and light soiling, but remains structurally sound and continues to provide adequate protection for the contents.
