A collection of four decorative elephant themed wall ornaments comprising three wood carvings and a metal repoussé plaque. The largest piece is a detailed wood relief carving depicting two adult elephants and a calf in an interlocking pose. This is accompanied by a carved wooden elephant head mask, presented frontally with a textured trunk and a hanging loop at the top. The third wooden item is a horizontal high relief carving of four elephants in procession, worked from a section of wood that retains its natural bark texture on the upper and lower edges. Completing the group is a rectangular wall plaque featuring a copper toned metal elephant with intricate repoussé floral and geometric patterns, mounted onto a black finished board. These items are characteristic of artisanal Southeast Asian wood carvings. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible.
Condition report:
The items appear to be in generally good condition with some surface dust and minor age related wear throughout. The rustic wood carving shows some natural drying cracks inherent to the material. Minor surface marks and dust are present on the black board of the metal plaque.
