Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises an assortment of mixed metalware, predominantly silver-plated flatware and table accessories. The collection includes a variety of spoons and forks in Fiddle and Old English patterns. Several spoon handles are clearly incised with the letters EPNS, denoting Electro-Plated Nickel Silver. A Fiddle pattern fork features four small hallmarks on the reverse, though these are worn and not definitively legible. The lot features a silver-plated chamberstick with a beaded rim to the circular saucer base, a central nozzle, and a ring handle. A large bread knife is included, featuring a serrated steel blade and an ornate silver-plated handle decorated with scrollwork and foliate motifs. There is also a three-pronged serving fork with a dark composite handle and an ornate bolster, alongside a small butter knife with a cream-coloured handle. The items are contained within a rectangular metal tin with a hinged lid, decorated with a blue, gold, and turquoise geometric lithographed pattern. A simple metal hand bell and a black-handled bottle opener are also present.

Condition report:

The items exhibit significant signs of age and utility wear. Most pieces show heavy surface tarnish and oxidation. The silver plating on many items is worn, revealing the base metal underneath. The steel blades of the knives show surface scratching and minor pitting. The decorative tin has substantial wear to the exterior lithography and rusting to the interior. The handles of the serving fork and butter knife show surface wear and discolouration.
