Buyer's Premium:

A group of eight mineral specimens comprising Zebra Rock and Liesegang Weather Rock, originating from the East Kimberley region of Western Australia. The collection includes one large upright sculptural form with carved ribbing, five cuboid and rectangular polished blocks, and two thin flat-cut slabs. The specimens are composed of a fine-grained Precambrian siltstone, estimated to be 1200 million years old, exhibiting rhythmic banding and spotting patterns. The colouration features reddish-brown iron-enriched bands and cream-white iron-depleted areas containing kaolin and silica. Several items are accompanied by original printed paper labels from Zebra Rock Fine Art. The labels provide a geological description of the Liesegang rings as a product of chemical weathering in siltstone, forming rings of different iron concentrations.

Condition report:

The specimens are in good overall condition. There are minor peripheral chips and small nibbles to the edges of the stone blocks, which is typical for this type of fine-grained siltstone. The associated paper labels are in worn condition, displaying significant creasing, staining, and some tears.
