A Victorian twin-handled earthenware presentation cup of large cylindrical form, supported by a stepped and flaring foot. The exterior is decorated with a detailed, hand-painted polychrome floral bouquet on one side, including roses and anemones. The reverse features a gilded presentation inscription within decorative scrollwork which reads Wm Edwards Esq / Waterdale / Wolverhampton / 1876. The upper rim and foot are accented with cyan turquoise bands bordered by heavy gilded lines. The cup features two moulded scroll handles with acanthus leaf motifs and gilded highlights. The base is marked with the script inscription A Token of Respect in black.
Condition report:
The piece shows significant fine crazing across the glaze, most notable on the handles and body. There is moderate wear and rubbing to the gilding on the upper rim and handle terminals. The interior exhibits minor pitting and occasional dark spots of kiln dust from manufacture. No chips, cracks, or visible repairs are present.
