A mid-to-late 20th-century picnic hamper by The Brexton Collection, handmade in England. The set features a honey-toned wicker exterior with a hinged lid, secured by two dark brown leather straps with metal buckles and a central brown composite carrying handle. The interior lid is fitted for two, containing two ceramic plates decorated with transfer-printed floral borders and central game bird motifs, secured by crossed tan synthetic straps. The lid also houses stainless steel cutlery comprising two knives, two forks, and two spoons. The main compartment is fitted with various original accessories, including a brown plastic food container with an embossed logo, a cream-coloured vacuum flask, a matching mug, and two plastic storage bins containing small condiment shakers, plastic jars, and assorted napkins. An oval metal plaque on the interior lid is inscribed: THE BREXTON COLLECTION HAND MADE IN ENGLAND. The brown plastic food container lid is embossed with the brexton name and a fork and spoon motif.
Condition report:
The hamper is in good overall condition consistent with age and use. There is light surface wear to the wicker and some minor marks to the textured synthetic interior lining. The plastic components show age-related discolouration. The napkins show signs of previous use. Leather straps and metal buckles remain functional.
