Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium:

A mahogany-finished wood cased bracket clock of traditional form. The case features a stepped caddy top surmounted by a brass swing carrying handle, with glazed panels to the front, back, and sides to allow viewing of the movement. The painted white arched dial is inscribed Plymouth and M.B. Jonkiss 1980, featuring black Roman numeral hour markers, an outer Arabic minute track, and floral spray decoration to the corners. The arch contains a functional rolling moon phase complication with a lunar date scale numbered 1-29.5 and a night sky scene. The interior houses a mechanical triple-train spring-driven movement with perlage finished brass plates, equipped with a quarter-chiming mechanism striking on five metal rods. The movement is accompanied by a winding key stamped SMITHS ENFIELD.

Condition report:

The dial is currently misaligned and tilted within the case aperture, suggesting loose internal mountings. The wooden case exhibits minor surface scuffs, small chips to the edges, and some white spots or splatters to the finish, particularly to the upper left. The movement area shows a significant accumulation of dust and cobwebs. The brass hardware, including the handle and hinges, shows surface tarnishing. The mechanical movement is untested and sold as-is.
