A group of United Kingdom pre-decimal currency comprising cupro-nickel, nickel-brass, and bronze denominations, accompanied by period paper ephemera. The coinage includes a 1949 cupro-nickel half crown featuring the bare-headed portrait of King George VI and a crowned shield reverse; a 1951 cupro-nickel florin; a twelve-sided nickel-brass threepence; and an assortment of bronze pennies and halfpennies spanning the reigns of Queen Victoria (veiled head) and King George V. The bronze pennies feature the seated figure of Britannia on the reverse. The associated ephemera consists of two brown paper wage envelopes dated 14 January 1949 and 21 January 1949, recording net wages of 5 pounds 13 shillings and 5 pounds 3 shillings respectively. Also included is a small printed informational slip titled Hold on to these… A coin of the future… featuring a portrait of George VI.

Condition report:

Coins are in circulated condition, ranging from fine to very fine. The bronze issues exhibit dark oxidation and surface wear; one specimen shows significant green verdigris corrosion. Cupro-nickel and nickel-brass pieces show typical contact marks and surface scratches consistent with circulation. The paper envelopes and pamphlet show creasing, small tears, and staining indicative of their age and previous handling.
