An Ercol dining suite in a dark stained finish, comprising an oval extending dining table and a set of six Quaker spindle-back chairs. The table features a solid elm top with a central seam, supported by a beech trestle-style base with four bulbous turned legs and rectangular block feet, joined by a central H-stretcher. The chairs are of the characteristic Quaker design, featuring an ergonomic hoop back with six vertical spindles over a solid seat, supported by splayed beech legs and H-stretchers. Each chair is provided with a removable tie-on seat cushion featuring a multi-coloured floral and pheasant pattern. The underside of the table apron bears a blue foil label printed with the Ercol brand name and Made in England. The chairs retain paper care labels providing the manufacturer name and the Princes Risborough, Buckinghamshire address.
Condition report:
The tabletop shows visible surface scratches and several hazy white bloom patches or heat marks at one end, with further finish wear along the central seam. The table base exhibits scuffing, scratches, and finish loss to the turned portions of the legs and stretchers consistent with floor-level wear. The wooden chair frames show general surface wear and minor scuffing. The tie-on cushions show signs of use and minor fading but remain intact.
