Buyer's Premium:

A late 19th or early 20th-century utilitarian carpenter’s or joiner’s tool chest. The chest is of simple plank construction, crafted from painted softwood, likely pine or deal. The interior is fitted with a removable secondary softwood tray. The exterior is equipped with heavy-duty iron swing carry handles to both ends, a central iron hasp and staple, and large iron strap hinges. The chest is sold with an assortment of tools including several wooden mallets, claw and ball-peen hammers, various files and rasps, pliers, pincers, a small G-clamp, screwdrivers, and chisels. Also included are a plastic organiser box containing various nails and pins, a yellow tool pouch printed Powell. Do it right. and a bottle of Havoline Diesel 15W-40 motor oil. The chest bears modern inventory stickers marked J567T.


Condition report:

The exterior black painted finish exhibits heavy wear, scratches, flaking, and loss throughout. There is a notable splintered loss to the timber on the leading edge of the lid. All iron hardware shows significant surface rust and pitting. The interior shows typical workshop dust, oil staining, and wear from long-term use. The included tools are in varying stages of used condition with multiple items exhibiting surface rust.
