This collection comprises several sets of flatware and multiple vintage cases. It includes a James Dixon and Sons fish service for six, featuring stainless steel blades and tines with bright orange composite handles. The blades are marked James Dixon and Sons Ltd Sheffield Stainless. This set is housed in its original two-part patterned cardboard presentation box. There is an engraved fish service for six with plated blades and tines, scrolling engraved decoration, and cream-coloured composite handles, housed in a fitted case with a faux-snakeskin paper exterior and stained silk and velvet lining. A stained oak canteen contains a quantity of loose, mixed flatware including various stainless and plated spoons and forks, some bearing a W monogram, along with a pair of steel nutcrackers; makers represented include James Dixon and Sons Ltd. The collection also features a large, grey canvas-covered hard-shell vanity travel case with a red and white oval label for M.V.F. containing a glass tray and a cut-glass jar, and a large black textured-finish case with the gilt-stamped mark Echt Silber on the grey felt interior, compartmentalised for a comprehensive flatware service.
Condition report:
The orange-handled flatware set shows light use with wear to the presentation box. The cream-handled set exhibits tarnish to the plating and the case is heavily worn with significant staining to the interior fabric. Mixed canteen items show various degrees of surface wear and tarnish. The grey vanity case shows surface wear and dust, and the interior mirror is shattered. The black canteen case shows scuffing and edge wear, with indentations and light staining to the interior felt from previous contents.
