A collection of four humorous prints by the British artist Simon Drew, centered on his Dartmouth studio. The group consists of four framed offset lithographs and a greeting card. The works are executed in the artist’s signature pen-and-ink style with stippled shading and colour washes, focusing on animal-based puns. The subjects included are pelicans (Pelican’t), egrets (Egrets (I’ve had a few, but then again…)), newts (Newts in white satin), puffins (Nuffin), and two canine subjects (wear your puppy with pride and dog on a dual cabbage way). Three of the framed works—the egrets, newts, and puffin—feature a hand-signed signature in pencil by the artist to the upper right corner of the image. All prints bear printed attributions to the artist and his location in Dartmouth, Devon. The framed items are presented in narrow black frames behind glass.
Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition. The paper of the framed prints appears clean and bright with no evidence of foxing or significant fading. The black frames show minor peripheral wear, including light scuffs and surface dust.
