A large collection of various British ceramic tableware and decorative items, featuring pieces from several prominent manufacturers. The lot includes items from the Portmeirion Botanic Garden series, designed by Susan Williams-Ellis, comprising shallow pasta bowls and mugs decorated with Primula Villosa (Blue Primrose) and Cyclamen Repandum (Ivy Leaved Cyclamen) transfer-printed motifs. These pieces bear the green oval Botanic Garden mark to the base, identifying them as dishwasher, microwave, and freezer safe. Also present is a group of Denby Fine Stoneware from the Coloroll period, featuring an oval baking dish, circular dinner plates, and mugs with a white floral sprig pattern on a speckled cream ground with brown-glazed rims, marked to the base. One Poole Pottery Sweet Pea pattern oval serving dish is included, bearing the maker mark and red dolphin symbol to the reverse. The collection further contains multiple Royal Grafton fine bone china mugs with gilded edges and scalloped rims, each depicting different animal and bird studies including rabbits, cats, goldfinches, and a blue tit. Miscellaneous items include a white ceramic breakfast set with a green reed design consisting of a teapot, lidded butter dish, creamer, egg cups, and a tray. The lot also features two water jugs with fruit patterns, a small bud vase with a fawn illustration, and various other stoneware and earthenware mugs and bowls featuring botanical and wildlife subjects such as a hedgehog and a coffee plant.
Condition report:
The Portmeirion bowls exhibit significant crazing to the interior glaze with associated dark brown staining. The Poole serving dish shows light surface staining and light marks. Overall, the collection is in used condition with visible surface wear, light utensil marks, and accumulated dust consistent with domestic use and storage. No major chips or professional repairs are apparent from a visual inspection of the group.
