A British mahogany-veneered tall chest of drawers from the Minstrel range by Stag, designed by John and Sylvia Reid. The chest features five graduated, full-width drawers, each decorated with distinctive vertical routed grooves to the front. The piece is finished in a reddish-brown mahogany veneer with solid wood edges and is raised on a plinth base with bracket feet. The top surface features a slight overhang with a rounded edge. The drawers are constructed with machine-cut dovetail joints and light-coloured secondary wood interiors, likely beech or birch. The hardware consists of polished brass-tone swan-neck drop handles mounted on decorative batwing-style backplates, with two handles per drawer. A manufacturer’s oval label is affixed to the interior of one drawer, bearing the name Stag in gold script on a dark blue background.
Condition report:
The item is in overall good, stable condition. There are minor superficial scuffs and light scratches consistent with age and use, primarily visible on the lower base rails and edges. The drawer interiors are clean and show minimal wear. A temporary paper auction lot tag marked M108 is affixed to the upper right corner.
