Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium:

An assortment of decorative and vanity objects featuring a variety of cobalt blue glass liners in multiple circular and rectangular forms, alongside a cobalt glass liqueur glass and a clear pressed glass stand. The collection includes several vintage powder compacts: a round gold-tone example with an etched scene of a tree and foliage, a square gold-tone example with engine-turned decoration and a central floral applique, and three examples depicting mallards in flight, including one with blue enamel and one housed in a presentation box showing the Tower of London. Also present are two stone-topped compacts, including an oval example in variegated stone and a round example. The group is completed by two decorative scent bottles or flacons—one teardrop-shaped in black glass with silver-tone wirework overlay, and another of pale green stone with an ornate silver-tone floral mount and a grey silk tassel—and a folding fan with carved sticks and hand-painted floral decoration linked by a silk ribbon.

Condition report:

The items exhibit wear consistent with age and use. There is significant enamel loss to the perimeter of the blue mallard compact. General surface scratching, tarnishing, and oxidation are visible on the metal components of the compacts and scent bottle mounts. The silk ribbon on the folding fan shows yellowing and signs of age. The cobalt glass liners appear generally intact, with minor surface wear and occasional small fleabites to the rims. The original presentation box for the Tower of London compact shows surface scuffing and wear.
