A collection of original artworks comprising four pieces by identified regional artists. The group includes a pair of drawings by Elaine Keary, executed in coloured pencil on paper. These depict pairs of birds perched on branches with berries and are housed in matching wooden frames with multi-layered mounts featuring marbled paper inner borders. The verso of these frames bears gold labels reading AN ORIGINAL DRAWING BY ELAINE KEARY and TAURUS FRAMES UNIT 16A ALEXANDRIA IND. ESTATE CULLOMPTON, DEVON. A watercolor on paper titled THE GULLS OF LOOE depicts three seagulls perched on harbour pilings. It is signed and dated V. Lucas 89 upper left and inscribed with the title upper right. The final piece is a watercolor landscape on paper depicting Mist Tor on Dartmoor, inscribed DA PENDER 90 upper left and MISTOR upper right. This landscape is presented in a dark brown mount and a composite gilt frame.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed condition. The pair of bird drawings by Elaine Keary appear well-preserved within their frames. The watercolor titled THE GULLS OF LOOE has sustained severe damage to the glazing, with multiple cracks across the glass that may have impacted the underlying paper. All frames show minor surface wear, scuffing, and an accumulation of dust consistent with age and storage.
