An assortment of approximately 30 vintage and contemporary costume jewellery items, primarily comprising brooches and pins in a diverse range of styles and materials. The collection includes commemorative and service pieces, notably a boxed red rhinestone poppy brooch with a gold-tone stem and an imitation pearl pinhead, a British Red Cross pin in a sealed packet, and a Soviet-era badge featuring a profile of Lenin and Cyrillic text translated as Shock Worker of Communist Labour.
Figurative and novelty items include a pair of red rhinestone-encrusted ruby slippers, a pink enamelled high-heel boot pin with multi-coloured rhinestone accents, a poodle encrusted with multi-coloured rhinestones, a pink plastic dolphin, a ceramic Venetian-style mask pin with gold-leaf accents, and a fishing fly brooch incorporating natural feathers.
Floral and botanical designs feature a white porcelain rose, a circular floral wreath brooch with multi-coloured enamel flowers and a central turquoise-coloured glass cabochon, a textured silver-tone leaf pin, and a teal enamelled leaf. Artisan and mid-century style pieces include a handmade button pin by buttonlove on its original card, a large silver-tone stylised flower brooch with a central imitation pearl, a brushed silver-tone paisley-shaped brooch with a dark resin inlay, and a teal glass bow-tie brooch. The items are constructed from various materials including base metals, cold-painted enamel, glass rhinestones, plastic, porcelain, wood, and feathers.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good vintage condition. Most stones appear present upon visual inspection, though minor loss to smaller pavé-set stones is possible given the nature of the lot. Metal components show varying degrees of light surface oxidation and wear consistent with age. The porcelain rose appears to be free of chips or cracks, and the natural feathers on the fishing fly brooch are intact.
