This lot features a trio of vintage portable cassette recording units, comprising two Toshiba RT-120S stereo radio cassette recorders and a Sharp RD-600E monaural cassette recorder. The Toshiba RT-120S models are four-band stereo boomboxes featuring FM, short wave, medium wave, and long wave radio capabilities. Each unit is constructed with a silver-coloured plastic housing and features integrated stereo speakers with metal mesh grilles. The front panels include analog slide-rule tuning scales and controls for tone, volume, loudness, and stereo mode selection. Labels to the rear confirm these units were designed in Japan by Toshiba Corporation and produced in Taiwan. The Sharp RD-600E is a compact, top-loading monaural tape recorder in a black textured plastic finish. It includes a built-in microphone and standard mechanical transport controls for recording and playback. This unit was manufactured in Malaysia by Sharp Corporation.
Condition report:
The collection is presented in used, uncleaned condition. Both Toshiba units show significant surface dust and debris accumulation, particularly within the speaker grilles and around the control knobs. The silver-coloured finish has various minor surface scuffs and age-related marking. The Sharp unit exhibits heavier cosmetic wear, with substantial loss of the silver-coloured coating on the transport buttons. All units are sold as found and remain untested for functional operation.
