A collection of vintage items featuring a petit point needlepoint vanity set decorated with floral and cottage motifs. The set contains various pieces including a hand mirror, hairbrush, clothes brush, comb, and a glass-bottomed tray, all with ornate gilt metal mounts, alongside a matching lidded glass powder jar. Included in the lot is a Japanese 10 Yen banknote (Series C) depicting Prince Shotoku, inscribed with the characters 日本銀行券 and 拾圓, resting on paper ephemera referencing CHINA FLEET and ORIENTAL ARTS GALLERY. The group contains an assortment of pins and badges, including a Soviet-era pin featuring a profile of Lenin with the Cyrillic text УДАРНИК КОММУНИСТИЧЕСКОГО ТРУДА (Shock Worker of Communist Labour), a blue and gold MW pin, and a Jump Rope For Heart badge. The collection is completed by several vintage iron barrel keys, a modern flat key, and various items of costume jewellery including faux-pearl earrings and an iridescent oblong pendant.
Condition report:
The needlepoint fabric shows minor foxing and yellowing consistent with age. The gilt metal mounts exhibit surface oxidation and tarnish. The comb is missing several teeth. The Japanese banknote is in heavily circulated condition with notable creasing, staining, and wear to the edges. The iron keys show surface rust. General wear and signs of age are present across the miscellaneous items.
