An extensive assortment of vintage costume jewellery dating from the mid-20th century. The collection predominantly features clear faceted glass rhinestones claw-set in silver-tone base metal. The group comprises a wide variety of items including several multi-strand fringe and bib necklaces, numerous brooches, dress clips, shoe clips, belt buckles, and a small selection of stud and drop earrings. One necklace is set with marquise-cut red glass stones and clear rhinestones. Designs include Art Deco-inspired geometric clips, 1940s-style bows and floral sprays, and cascading mid-century cocktail styles. A small number of pieces incorporate faux pearls. No maker’s marks were identified on the pieces.
Condition report:
The collection is in varied vintage condition. Several pieces exhibit missing stones and multiple stones have deadened or discoloured to a grey or yellow tone due to age-related foil backing degradation. There is visible wear and tarnish to the silver-tone plating on many items, revealing the base metal underneath. Some necklaces show minor tangling and bending to the settings.
