A 2017 UK Royal Mint two ounce fine silver five pound coin in a Jubilee Mint presentation case. This lot comprises one fine silver bullion coin from The Queen’s Beasts series featuring the Griffin of Edward III. Struck in 999.9 fine silver, the coin features the fifth definitive portrait of Elizabeth II by Jody Clark on the obverse, surrounded by the legend ‘ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 5 POUNDS ·’. The reverse design depicts a rampant griffin clutching a shield with Windsor Castle, inscribed ‘GRIFFIN OF EDWARD III · 2 OZ · FINE SILVER · 999.9 · 2017 ·’. Small ‘JC’ initials for the artist are visible on both faces. The coin is contained in a clear protective capsule within a black hinged case lined in white satin, which is printed with a gold crown and ‘JUBILEE MINT’ text to the interior lid. An accompanying Certificate of Authenticity from The Jubilee Mint bears the serial number 1154 and records a limited edition presentation of 2,017 units.

Condition report:

The coin appears in uncirculated condition with brilliant luster and no visible signs of wear, contact marks, or toning (photos 3 and 4). The clear plastic capsule shows only minor surface handling marks. The black presentation case and its white satin interior are in good order without visible staining or structural damage (photos 1 and 2). The Certificate of Authenticity is included in good condition.
