This lot comprises a 75th Anniversary of D-Day silver proof 50p coin cover presented in a black leatherette folder. The heptagonal silver proof coin is housed in a clear protective capsule within a commemorative card and features a reverse design with central D-DAY text positioned above the flags of the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada, with the dates 1944-2019 above. The legend 75th ANNIVERSARY is inscribed at the top and FIFTY PENCE at the bottom. Six monochrome stamps are mounted to the card with captions reading D-Day British soldiers are briefed before embarkation, D-Day HMS Warspite shelling in support of beach landings, D-Day Paratroopers synchronising watches, D-Day Soldiers wade ashore on Juno, D-Day An American light bomber provides… and D-Day British troops take cover as they advance inland. Each stamp is cancelled with a circular postmark reading ANNIVERSARY D-DAY 6 JUNE 2019 LONDON SW. The black folder exterior is stamped with gold-toned lettering JUBILEE MINT beneath a crown symbol. The card includes the printed name Benham Folkestone, Kent. The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is printed with the title THE 75th ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY SILVER PROOF 50P COIN COVER.
Condition report:
The silver proof coin shows no visible toning or handling marks within its protective capsule (photo 2). The commemorative card and stamps appear to be in excellent condition with no creasing or surface wear visible (photo 2). The leatherette folder is clean with no visible scuffing or damage to the gold-toned lettering (photo 4). The Certificate of Authenticity is well-preserved with no staining or tears (photo 3).
