A 2018 UK The Royal Mint silver proof 50 pence coin celebrating the work of Beatrix Potter and featuring the character Peter Rabbit. Struck in .925 sterling silver, the coin has a weight of 8.00g and a diameter of 27.30mm. The obverse features the fifth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark, inscribed ELIZABETH II · D · G · REG · F · D · 50 PENCE · 2018, with the designer initials J.C visible below the bust. The reverse, designed by Emma Noble, depicts a colourised illustration of Peter Rabbit with the inscription PETER RABBIT. The lot is housed in an acrylic display block, with a patterned presentation box, an outer sleeve, and an information booklet. The accompanying Certificate of Authenticity is numbered 08901. The booklet specifies a maximum coin mintage of 45,000 and a limited edition presentation of 35,000.
Condition report:
The coin remains in uncirculated proof condition with no visible signs of wear, toning, or handling, being protected within an acrylic block and capsule (Photos 5 and 6). The acrylic block shows minor surface dust (Photo 5). The inner presentation box and outer cardboard sleeve exhibit minor corner wear and light handling marks consistent with storage (Photos 1 and 2).
