This lot comprises a set of ten British coins and four commemorative stamps celebrating the seventieth wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The numismatic portion features a complete 1947 pre-decimal year set including a farthing, halfpenny, penny, sixpence, English shilling, Scottish shilling, florin, and halfcrown, all bearing the portrait of King George VI. According to the accompanying documentation, these coins have been plated with either silver or bronze to restore their original appearance. The collection also includes a 1972 cupro-nickel crown for the Silver Wedding anniversary and a 2017 five pound crown for the Platinum Wedding anniversary featuring a dual portrait of the royal couple. The philatelic portion consists of four unused 1997 Royal Mail stamps issued for the Golden Wedding anniversary in 20p, 26p, 43p, and 63p denominations. The set is presented in a black folding case with a velvet-lined interior and includes a technical specification booklet and a certificate of ownership numbered 283 of 499, signed by Michael J Byrne, Chairman. The documentation lists the following specifications: 1947 farthing (20.19mm), halfpenny (25.48mm), penny (31.0mm), sixpence (19.4mm), shillings (23.6mm), florin (28.5mm), halfcrown (32.31mm), and crowns (38.6mm).


Condition report:

The coins are housed in clear plastic capsules and exhibit a bright, refurbished appearance (photo 3). The commemorative crowns show no signs of circulation wear and appear in brilliant uncirculated condition (photo 2). The four stamps are unused and held securely behind a protective clear film (photo 4). The presentation case is in good condition with minor handling marks to the exterior, and the internal documentation is clean and free of tears or significant creasing (photo 6 and 7).
