A collection of art glass paperweights and figurines including an example by Teign Valley Glass. This assortment is composed of decorative pieces in various styles of glasswork, including hand-blown, pressed, and faceted lead crystal. The items feature a range of decorative effects such as internal multi-coloured swirls, controlled bubble inclusions, and applied glass details. One large clear glass paperweight is accompanied by its original blue cardboard presentation box, which is printed in gold lettering reading T E I G N V A L L E Y G L A S S above a stylised lowercase a logo and the word E N G L A N D.
The group features several animal forms, notably a selection of owls. These include a large clear pressed glass figure with wings outspread on a textured circular base, two hand-blown glass owls in deep cobalt blue and blue-green hues respectively, and a small faceted crystal owl with green bead eyes. The blue-green hand-blown owl bears a small, round, white adhesive label to its side which is not clearly legible. Additional figurines include a multi-coloured swirled glass cat in orange, black, and white tones, a bird with red, white, and blue internal decoration, and faceted crystal figures of a frog or toad with green bead eyes and a small animal on a rectangular plinth. The paperweights in the collection vary in form, including a large egg-shaped weight with white and yellow swirls, a blue teardrop weight, and several small spherical examples with diverse internal patterns.
Condition report:
The items in this collection appear to be in generally good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs (all photos). The faceted lead crystal figures should be checked for minor flea-bite nicks to the sharp edges, though none are prominent in the images. The Teign Valley Glass presentation box shows minor shelf wear and scuffing to the corners and edges (photo 3).
