This lot comprises two cased sets of silver plated cutlery. The first set is a matched service of twenty four fish knives and forks, providing twelve full place settings. The metal blades and tines are decorated with engraved foliate and floral scrollwork near the bolsters and are fitted with cream coloured composite handles, possibly ivorine or bone, secured with decorative scrolled ferrules. The metal is marked with four individual cartouches containing the characters E, P, N, and S. The service is housed in a rectangular mahogany finish wooden presentation case featuring a central blank brass shield shaped cartouche and a small brass plaque to the front edge marked BRITISH MADE. The second set comprises six silver plated souvenir spoons featuring cast figural terminals including a parish church, a Bible with a cross, wedding bells, a horseshoe surmounted by a crown, a saintly figure, and a tiered crown. The interior lid of the black textured leatherette case features an adhesive sticker reading EXQUISITE SILVER PLATED.

Condition report:

The mahogany finish case for the fish cutlery exhibits minor surface scratches and a faint ring mark to the lid (photo 4). The interior blue velvet lining shows typical pressure indentations and light fading (photo 1). The fish cutlery metalware shows light surface scratching and moderate tarnishing consistent with use (photo 3). Faint hairline crazing is visible on a small number of the composite handles (photo 2). The souvenir spoons are in good condition with minimal tarnishing and appear to have seen little use (photo 6). The black spoon case shows minor external wear and scuffing to the edges (photo 7).
