Start price: £8

Estimated price: £8 - £20

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £9

An assortment of decorative objects including a modernist style carved stone bust of a bearded man. The bust is rendered in a simplified, blocky form from a white crystalline stone, possibly marble or alabaster, and is mounted upon a circular natural log-slice plinth. The collection includes two terracotta wall masks depicting Bacchus style faces with clusters of grapes and vine leaves in their hair, finished in unglazed orange-brown clay. Also included is a whimsical terracotta frog figure with a circular aperture at the top of the head and a small dark-patinated figurine of a seated worker, possibly cast from metal or resin. A light grey carved stone figure of a seated individual, possibly in the Inuit style, is present. The lot is completed by a pair of vintage framed silk paintings from Hong Kong; one depicts a seated man in traditional attire and the other shows a junk boat. A white paper note is affixed to one frame reading PAIR OF VINTAGE HONG KONG SILK PAINTINGS FOR REFRAMING in blue ink. A square white auction label on the glass of the boat painting bears the number 181. A small blue and white adhesive label on the terracotta frog is marked L833C. This lot comprises the decorative items only; the wooden shelving shown in the images is not included.

Condition report:

The items in this lot exhibit general surface dust accumulation across all stone and terracotta surfaces. There is localized dark staining and residue on the body of the terracotta frog figure (photo 3). The silk paintings are described as being for reframing, indicating possible wear to the current wooden frames or mounting. No chips or significant losses are visible on the stone or terracotta pieces.
