Sold for: £3
A large gilt octagonal wall mirror, possibly intended for use as an overmantel mirror. The frame is constructed in an elongated octagonal form with clipped upper corners and features a moulded profile. The finish is a gilt-effect, which has been intentionally distressed with a fine-line crackle texture to simulate age. The clear mirror plate is set within the frame and backed with a brown fibreboard panel. The reverse is fitted with two D-ring hanging brackets and a wire for wall mounting. No manufacturer labels, stamps, or marks are visible on the frame or the backing. This lot comprises the mirror only; the shelves, ceramic figures, and other interior items shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
The mirror is in good overall condition. The gilt finish shows some minor surface scuffs and a light accumulation of dust in the recesses of the moulding (photo 2). The mirror glass appears clear with no visible foxing, silvering loss, or scratches (photo 1). The fibreboard backing is secure and shows no signs of warping or damp (photo 3). The hanging hardware is intact and functional.
