This lot comprises a collection of framed artworks and photographs, an octagonal chased brass tray and a circular wooden wall clock. The collection includes two pen and ink drawings of Plymouth landmarks, ‘Sutton Harbour, Plymouth’ and ‘Plymouth Guildhall’, the latter dated ’81. Also present is a watercolour landscape depicting a mosque and figures by moonlight, and two etchings, one of Marburg castle, inscribed Albrecht Dürer, and another of Cologne Cathedral (Dom zu Köln). The photographs consist of a black and white image inscribed H.M.S. MILNE 16.12.44 and a group photograph titled 1st Squash 1934-35. The lot also features two prints of raccoons and an oval portrait of a lady in a green velvet mount. The octagonal brass tray is decorated with intricate chased floral and foliate scrollwork. The circular wooden wall clock has a brass dial with Roman numerals.


Condition report:

Visible foxing, yellowing, and minor staining are present on the paper supports of several drawings and prints (photos 1, 2, 5 and 8). The assorted frames, including gilt-wood and moulded dark wood examples, show general age-related wear, including minor chips and abrasions (photo 1). The clear protective cover on the wall clock dial exhibits surface scratching (photo 4). The brass tray shows surface tarnishing and minor scuffs consistent with age (photo 3).
