Sold for: £55
A collection of glass animal figurines and a metal medallion featuring approximately forty pieces. The group predominantly comprises stylised elephants in various sizes and techniques, alongside a smaller number of other animal forms. The glass figurines are constructed from solid-cast and hand-blown glass in a range of colours, including emerald green, cobalt blue, smoked grey, and clear glass. Several examples feature internal bubble decoration, known as bullicante, and some clear glass pieces exhibit a frosted, ice-like texture. One seated emerald green glass elephant bears an adhesive black and silver foil label to its side, which is printed with the text KANAWHA GLASS, identifying it as a product of the Kanawha Glass Company. Other figurines in the lot show visual characteristics consistent with Murano style and Scandinavian glass design, featuring weighted bases and smooth, rounded forms. Accompanying the glass items is a single circular green medallion decorated with a relief elephant and monkey motif.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in generally good condition across all provided images. No significant chips, cracks, or structural repairs are visible on the figurines (Photos 1-6). As is typical with vintage glassware, minor surface scratches and light shelf wear are present on the polished underside of the bases (Photos 1 and 2). The Kanawha adhesive label shows minor edge wear but remains legible (Photo 2).
