A mid-20th century Liss Bros Ltd oak two-drawer side table. This utility style furniture piece is constructed from oak with a dark stained finish, featuring a rectangular solid top over a frieze with two side-by-side drawers. Each drawer is fitted with a circular wooden pull knob and features traditional joinery. The table is supported by four square-section legs, which are reinforced by a low H-stretcher. The underside of the rear frame bears white stencilled characters which read LISS BROS LTD, 4 / 55, and 21 / B / 571. These markings identify the manufacturer and indicate a production date of April 1955.
Condition report:
The top surface exhibits numerous scratches, small impressions, and areas of finish wear (photo 4). The drawer fronts show scuffs and minor losses to the dark stain, particularly concentrated around the wooden knobs (photo 1). The interior of the right-hand drawer has a significant green-toned stain to the base (photo 4). There are scattered white paint splatters visible on the legs, stretchers, and the underside frame (photo 7). The legs show typical scuffing and wear to the timber at the feet (photo 6).
