A late 20th-century country style knotty pine fall-front bureau. This piece is constructed from solid knotty pine with a honey-coloured finish. The fall-front opens to reveal a fitted interior comprising a central small drawer with a turned wooden knob, flanked by six vertical pigeonholes and two open side shelves. The writing surface is inset with a brown leather or faux-leather pad featuring gold-tooled borders. The lower section consists of two short drawers over two long drawers, all fitted with turned wooden knobs. The fall-front is supported by two pull-out wooden lopers with small brass knobs and is secured by two visible brass hinges. A brass escutcheon and lock are present on the fall-front. A small white adhesive label is located on the top right edge, however, the characters are not legible. This lot comprises the bureau only; the other items visible in the background of the images are not included.

Condition report:

The exterior woodwork shows general signs of wear including minor scuffs, shallow scratches, and small indentations consistent with domestic use throughout. There is a visible scuff on the right-hand side edge of the fall-front (photo 2). The writing surface shows significant deterioration to the leather or faux-leather inset, including heavy cracking, scuffing, and loss of the surface finish across the main body (photo 3). The drawers and fall-front appear to be in functional order, though the presence of a working key is unconfirmed.
