A collection of Italian Murano art glass figurines featuring various hand-blown techniques including aventurine, millefiori cane, and frit inclusions. The group includes a stylised leaping fish sculpture crafted in transparent smoked grey-brown glass with opalescent white streaks through the fins and tail, emerging from a shell-form base. A large glass rooster is decorated with a vibrant red comb and head, an orange and white chest featuring gold aventurine flecks and multi-coloured frit, and blue and brown tail feathers. The rooster bears a rectangular gold adhesive label on the tail reading VETRERIA ARTISTICA MADE IN MURANO – ITALY. The collection also includes two musician clown figurines with clear bodies containing multi-coloured cane segments, white faces, and yellow hair. One clown bears a circular silver and blue adhesive label on the hat reading VETRI ARTISTICI MADE IN MURANO – ITALY with a central monogram GP. This lot comprises the glass figurines only; the background shelving, books, and other interior items shown in the images are not included.
Condition report:
The collection is offered in mixed condition. The two clown figurines are damaged, exhibiting notable internal stress fractures and cracks at the junctions where the glass collars meet the necks and bodies (photos 14, 15, and 16). The rooster figurine displays a significant internal stress crack at the junction between the red glass body and the clear base (photo 9). The fish sculpture shows minor surface wear consistent with age and a small chip to the edge of one dorsal fin (photo 2).
