This lot comprises a limited edition offset lithograph after an original painting by John Chancellor (1925-1984), titled Victory in Pursuit of Nelson. The maritime scene depicts the HMS Victory under full sail on a turquoise sea with a fleet visible on the horizon beneath a clouded sky. The print is hand-numbered 482 / 850 in pencil to the lower right margin and carries a printed signature reading John Chancellor within the lower right of the image. The lower margin features a printed title block stating Victory in Pursuit of Nelson and John Chancellor 1925-84. A blind stamp is located in the lower left margin depicting a standing figure and the letters B K B. Text along the upper margin reads Published by Alexander Gallery Publications Ltd, Bristol, England. The reverse of the frame carries an adhesive label for Alexander Gallery Fine Art Dealers of 122 Whiteladies Road, Clifton, Bristol, and a separate label providing hanging instructions. The print is presented in a multi-layered cream mount with gold-line detailing, housed within an ornate gilt-finished composite frame.

Condition report:

The print appears in excellent overall condition with no visible signs of foxing, toning, or fading to the image (photo 1). The mount is clean and free from discolouration. The ornate gilt frame is in good condition with only minor surface wear and small abrasions consistent with handling (photo 1).
