A group of two vintage portable metal hand lanterns including an example by Ever Ready. The first lantern is constructed from black-painted metal featuring a central brass band and a turned wooden handle grip. It is designed with a heavy-duty metal handle assembly and a rear-mounted toggle switch. The circular glass lens is secured within a flanged metal rim, and the body contains an internal battery compartment. The second lantern is finished in a blue-painted upper casing with a silver-toned metal base. The handle is fitted with an embossed rectangular metal plate reading EVER READY. Both lanterns were originally battery-operated and are offered in an untested condition.
Condition report:
The black lantern displays widespread chipping and scuffs to the paintwork (photo 1 and 3) alongside surface oxidation to the brass band (photo 3). The blue lantern shows moderate paint loss to the handle and upper casing (photo 2) and significant oxidation and pitting to the silver-toned metal base (photo 2). The glass lenses on both items appear intact with some internal dust and minor surface scratching visible (photo 1 and 2).
