A collection of vintage and contemporary costume jewellery brooches, pins, and hair accessories. The assortment is constructed from base metals with gold-tone and silver-tone finishes, incorporating decorative elements such as clear and multi-coloured faceted rhinestones, faux pearls, glass cabochons, cold enamel, porcelain, and early plastics. The collection features a diverse range of designs including figural, botanical, and geometric motifs. Notable items include a silver-tone horse-drawn carriage pin, an articulated hand holding a floral spray, a pink porcelain rose, and a Scottish style thistle pin set with an amber-coloured glass stone. A large dragonfly brooch features red rhinestone accents, and multiple butterfly designs are included in silver-tone and rhinestone finishes. A circular brooch features a white centre with a green laurel wreath border containing the printed green letters DRA. One small plastic box is present with a label reading 441. No other maker’s names are legible on the items.
Condition report:
The collection is in fair to good vintage condition. Visible wear consistent with age includes occasional missing rhinestones, particularly in the larger floral clusters (photo 1). Minor rubbing and tarnish are visible on the gold-tone and silver-tone finishes (photo 2). Small chips and surface wear are present on some enamel and porcelain pieces (photo 2 and 3). All pins and clasps appear present but have not been individually tested for mechanical function.
