This auction ended on September 2, 2026.

Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium: 20%

A collection of United Kingdom pre-decimal coins contained within a vintage Flexoplast tin. The assortment comprises various cupro-nickel and bronze denominations from the mid-20th century. Visible within the group is a 1955 cupro-nickel shilling, featuring the reverse design of a lion passant guardant standing upon a crown with the inscription ONE SHILLING. Multiple bronze pennies are also included, displaying characteristic dark toning and surface wear consistent with heavy circulation. The coins are housed in a cylindrical yellow tin with a pull-off lid, bearing the printed red text FLEXOPLAST ELASTIC and MADE IN ENGLAND. A piece of aged adhesive tape is affixed to the exterior of the tin with the handwritten inscription £1 A WEEK in ballpoint pen.

Condition report:

The Flexoplast tin exhibits significant rust and corrosion around the rim and base (photo 3). There are visible surface scratches and areas of finish loss to the yellow printed exterior (photo 3). The coins show heavy circulation wear, surface abrasions, and dark natural toning throughout (photo 2). The 1955 shilling displays moderate wear to the high points of the reverse design (photo 2).
