This lot comprises a Skylark brass tenor trombone in case. The instrument is constructed from brass with nickel silver-toned braces and ferrules, featuring chrome-plated inner slides. The bell is decorated with an engraved bird motif and Chinese characters positioned above the engraved text ‘SKYLARK’ and ‘MADE IN CHINA’. The instrument is contained within a fitted hard-shell carrying case with a green velvet-style interior lining. The lot includes a metal mouthpiece, a yellow cleaning cloth, and white polishing tissue.
Condition report:
The instrument shows significant signs of age and use, with extensive lacquer wear and surface oxidation across the brass surfaces, particularly to the bell throat and slide sections (photos 1 and 2). Pitting and surface scratches are visible throughout the body (photo 3). The functional movement of the slides has not been tested. The exterior of the case shows scuffing and wear to the edges (photo 1).
