This lot comprises two mahogany tables of differing antique forms. The first is a George III style tea table featuring a solid mahogany fold-over top. The top opens to reveal a second surface and is supported by an apron with a single frieze drawer. The drawer front is decorated with cockbeading and an ornate, pierced brass escutcheon. The table stands on four straight, square-section legs. The second item is a Victorian style Sutherland table constructed from figured mahogany. It consists of a narrow rectangular central top with two large, rounded drop leaves. The leaves are supported by four swinging gate-legs, which form part of a twin-pillar trestle base joined by a central stretcher. All six legs and the stretcher display ring-turned decoration, and the feet are raised on small castors. No maker marks or labels are visible on either piece.
Condition report:
The tea table shows extensive inactive woodworm flight holes to the underside of the leaves (photo 5). The top surface exhibits multiple scratches, dings, and a prominent circular water mark (photo 8). There is wear and finish loss along the edges and corners (photo 4). The drawer interior shows damage and wood loss around the lock housing (photo 6). The Sutherland table has light surface scratches and a faint circular ring mark to the top (photo 12). There are minor scuffs and small dings to the turned legs and trestle feet (photo 13).
