This lot comprises an Elliott of London walnut cased longcase clock, accompanied by its original purchase documentation. The case is constructed from walnut with figured burr walnut veneers, featuring a caddy top hood with three brass finials and a square glazed door flanked by pilasters. The ten-inch square brass dial is decorated with cast brass cherub spandrels and features a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, inscribed Elliott London in script at the centre and MADE IN ENGLAND at the base. A selection lever at the 12 o clock position is marked CHIME and SILENT. The clock is fitted with a mechanical eight-day, three-train weight-driven movement utilising horizontal chime rods. Documentation includes an original receipt from Bowden and Sons, Jewellers, Royal Parade, Plymouth, dated 2-3-1987, identifying the model as a 969 Z Elliott Long Cased Walnut, Chime, originally purchased for a nett price of £1850-00 and marked Paid by Cheque. The lot includes three copper-finished cylindrical weights, a pendulum with a matching bob, and a brass winding crank. The movement is currently detached from the case.

Condition report:

The lacquer finish to the walnut case exhibits significant all-over fine cracking or crazing, visible on the hood and trunk (photo 1). The dial silvering and brass spandrels show minor tarnish (photo 3). The mechanical movement appears complete but is currently detached from the case and its working order is untested (photo 6). The copper-finished weights and pendulum bob show light surface wear and minor oxidation spotting (photo 5 and photo 8).
