An autumnal woodland landscape oil on canvas by Noel Ripley in a gilt frame. This traditional representational work depicts a tranquil countryside scene featuring a winding path leading to a wooden five-bar gate. The composition is set within a dense woodland characterised by trees with orange and brown foliage under a misty sky. A small stream or pool sits in the lower left foreground, reflecting the soft light, while several sheep graze peacefully in the middle distance. The artist employs fine, detailed brushwork to capture the textures of the tree bark and the delicate forms of the leaves. The painting is signed in the lower right corner in reddish-brown paint reading Noel Ripley. It is housed in a substantial stepped gilt wood frame with an intentional distressed finish.

The painting is in overall excellent condition with no visible signs of damage, repair, or restoration. The paint surface is stable with no craquelure or paint loss visible (photo 1). The canvas remains taut on its wooden stretcher as seen from the reverse (photo 6). The frame features intentional distressing to its gilded surface as part of the decorative finish (photo 2), and remains structurally sound.
