This lot comprises two Caithness glass paperweights designed by Colin Terris, featuring the Moonflower and Inferno patterns. The Moonflower weight is a spherical glass form with a pale purple upper portion and a deep magenta internal core fashioned into a stylised plant-like shape, accented by five large controlled teardrop bubbles. The Inferno weight features a clear exterior casing a swirling interior of red and orange glass with multiple small controlled bubbles. Both weights are accompanied by clear plastic display stands containing original printed paper descriptive labels. The Moonflower label notes it as the first design in the abstract field produced by Caithness Glass Ltd, Inveralmond, Perth. The Inferno label describes it as a conflagration and identifies the maker as Caithness Glass PLC, Wick. The polished base of the Moonflower piece is acid-etched with characters reading Caithness MOONFLOWER Scotland and carries a hand-etched alphanumeric code M32856. The Inferno base is similarly etched Caithness INFERNO Scotland with the code S22287.
