A collection of framed paintings and prints including an example by B. Belfitt. This lot comprises a variety of representational artworks in multiple mediums including watercolour and print. The subjects include maritime scenes, natural history, and rural landscapes. The maritime works feature sailboats, one with the number 812 visible on the sail. The natural history pieces include a rabbit and a print depicting seven birds on a branch, which is signed in the lower right in a cursive hand reading B. Belfitt. The landscapes show stone arch bridges and foliage. The pieces are housed in a variety of frames featuring dark-stained wood, green-washed timber, orange-toned wood, and simple black mouldings. A white adhesive label printed with the characters 094 is present on the glazing of one frame.
Condition report:
The lot shows signs of age and handling consistent with storage. Accumulated dust is visible across the glazing and frames (photo 1). A slight separation is present at the top corner joint of the thin black frame (photo 2). There are minor scuffs and surface marks to the edges and corners of the wooden frames (photo 3). A white adhesive lot label is affixed to the exterior glazing (photo 1).
