Sold for: £12
A pair of two Chinese style cloisonné enamel vases of ovoid form with flared necks. Each vase is constructed with a metal body, featuring gilded rims and foot rings. The exterior decoration consists of a dark cobalt blue ground embellished with intricate scrolling wirework. The primary decorative motifs are flowering branches with blossoms in shades of white, yellow, and pink, accompanied by varied green foliage. The interiors and the undersides of the bases are finished with a turquoise blue enamel coating. No maker’s marks, signatures, or characters are visible on either piece.
Height: 18 cm.
Condition report:
The vases are in good overall condition. There are minor pinhead-sized pits in the enamel surface consistent with the firing process. The gilded rims and foot rings show light surface wear and tarnish (Photo 1 and 2). One base exhibits areas of rubbing and minor losses to the turquoise enamel coating, revealing the metal beneath (Photo 4). No significant dents or large bruises to the enamel are visible across the pair.
