A 20th century Roger B? oil painting on canvas board depicting a mountainous landscape. The composition is framed by slender birch trees in the foreground, featuring prominent impasto highlights that create a tactile bark texture. In the background, a sharp, craggy mountain peak rises above a mist-covered forest, reflected in the still waters of a central lake. The colour palette is muted and atmospheric, composed of soft greys, ochres, and pale blues applied with broad, visible brushstrokes. The work is signed to the lower left corner in brown paint Roger B. followed by a trailing horizontal line. It is housed in a simple dark wood frame with a gilt-finished inner slip.
Condition report:
The painting appears to be in good original condition with a stable paint surface and no visible craquelure or loss (photo 1). There is a light accumulation of surface dust within the textured impasto of the trees (photo 2). The frame remains structurally sound with only minor surface marks consistent with age.
