A collection of table lighters constructed from various materials including jasperware, onyx, metal, glass and bone china. The lot includes a light blue jasperware style lighter with white relief classical decoration, featuring a black plastic filler cap marked RONSON MADE IN ENGLAND and an impressed base marked MADE IN ENGLAND, 71 and 8. Also included is a rectangular green onyx lighter with a gold-tone mechanism and a black filler cap marked RONSON. A spherical brushed and polished metal lighter is marked to the underside with an impressed circular mark reading RONSON ® REGD. TRADE MARK, OPEN, FOR FLINT, MADE IN ENGLAND and PATENTED. The assortment further contains a blue faceted glass lighter with a chrome-plated mechanism and a white bone china lighter decorated with floral sprays. The bone china base is marked with a printed brown wreath containing FOUNDED MINTON 1793, BONE CHINA MADE IN ENGLAND, accompanied by hand-painted P and 6 marks and a cursive Colibri signature.
Condition report:
The collection shows various signs of age and wear. The bone china lighter is severely damaged, with a large section of the porcelain base broken and missing (photo 6). The blue jasperware style lighter shows surface dirt to the relief and base (photo 2). The green onyx lighter has minor surface scratches (photo 3). The spherical metal lighter exhibits light oxidation and surface wear (photos 4 and 5). All metal mechanisms show minor surface wear and light oxidation. The mechanisms are untested and the functional condition is unknown.
