An assortment of contemporary and vintage ceramic tableware featuring various decorative and utility pieces in earthenware and porcelain. The collection includes a partial Bristol dinner and tea service in cream-coloured earthenware, decorated with a blue geometric latticework border and gilded rims. This service comprises a gravy boat, dinner plates, side plates, teacups, saucers, a cream jug, and two lidded vessels, with the gravy boat base bearing a green printed mark reading Bristol, Founded 1652, England. Also included are four Waterside fine china side plates featuring transfer-printed illustrations of a blue tit, marked to the underside with an oval stamp reading waterside, FINE CHINA.

This lot also comprises a set of four porcelain mugs decorated with grey block lettering, marked to the base with a house icon and the word Dunelm, and six white earthenware mugs featuring red heart motifs marked Sainsbury’s. A hand-painted ceramic napkin holder is decorated with stylised roosters and bears a base stamp reading Terres, et Couleurs, Peint a la main. A small Royal Worcester porcelain teacup and two saucers featuring scalloped edges and floral borders bear a purple printed mark consisting of a crown above a circular device with the numbers 10 and 115. Miscellaneous items include a large white ceramic lidded tureen of lobed form, a white divided platter, a butter dish lid marked DEBENHAMS with a flower icon, and a collection of plain white dinner plates and bowls.


Condition report:

The collection is in overall good used condition. The Bristol service shows visible staining and wear to the unglazed foot rims (photo 8). The Waterside side plates exhibit minor surface scratches consistent with use (photo 9). Across the assortment, there are minor chips and surface abrasions commensurate with regular domestic use (photo 1). No major structural repairs or significant cracks are evident in the images provided.
