A pair of framed limited edition lithographic prints depicting West Country historical and topographical subjects. The first print is a maritime scene titled The Armada and a Plymouth Galleon by Robert Moore, produced in 1988 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Spanish Armada. The work features a pencil signature reading Robert Moore and is pencil numbered 152/1588 to the lower right margin. Printed text in the margins includes the title, the commemorative inscription To Commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the Spanish Armada 1588 Plymouth, Devon, and the note A Limited Edition of 1588 signed prints, the original presented to the City of Plymouth, Devon. The reverse of the maritime print carries a Fine Art Trade Guild adhesive label and a manufacturer sticker reading Designers & Manufacturers of high quality Framed Prints, Photo Frames & Mirrors, Made in the U.K. The second print, after a watercolour by H. Cooper, is titled Abbey Bridge – Tavistock. It is signed in pencil H. Cooper to the lower left and numbered 94/500 to the lower right. The reverse bears a framer’s stamp for Evergreens, 5 The Precinct, Gorleston, Norfolk, NR31 6LR, and a stock label reading No: 816 495 900 Size: 16 x 20. Both works are presented in dark wood style glazed frames with decorative slip and mount details.
Condition report:
Both prints appear to be in good overall condition with no visible foxing, staining, or fading to the paper or pigments (photo 1, photo 6). The frames show minor surface scuffs and dust accumulation consistent with age and handling. The backing paper on the reverse of both frames exhibits significant tearing, tape residue, and peripheral wear (photo 10, photo 11, photo 13).
