A pair of two Coalport Characters Raymond Briggs Father Christmas hand-painted bone china figurines in presentation cases. This lot comprises two stylised ceramic figures based on the illustrations by Raymond Briggs. The first figurine, titled Special Deliveries, depicts Father Christmas in a red suit with a brown sack standing beside a red and white milk float, receiving a delivery from a milkman in a grey cap and tan coat. The underside of this piece bears a black printed backstamp reading FATHER CHRISTMAS™, SPECIAL DELIVERIES, No. 1767, In a worldwide edition of 5,000, COALPORT®, Characters, Hand Painted Bone China, RB/BP Ltd 2005, FC10. The second figurine, titled Where’s The Chimney?, shows Father Christmas standing with his sack next to a white igloo. The base is marked with a black printed backstamp reading FIRST EDITION, FATHER CHRISTMAS™, WHERE’S THE CHIMNEY?, COALPORT®, Characters, FC02, Hand Painted Bone China, RB/BP Ltd 2004. Both items are presented in their original green cardboard character boxes. The box for Special Deliveries carries a white adhesive label reading FATHER CHRISTMAS H.SAMUELS 1767 SPECIAL DELIVERIES, and both boxes have white labels stating MADE IN THAILAND. An informational character card is included with the Where’s The Chimney? figure.
Condition report:
Both figurines appear to be in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs evident in the photographs. The Special Deliveries box shows a small tear to the corner of the top flap and minor shelf wear (photo 2). The Where\'s The Chimney? box shows minor handling wear but remains in good condition (photo 6). No other defects are visible.
