A collection of vintage wooden and metal table lighters including Ronson examples. The group features an assortment of novelty forms, including a miniature barrel with metal bands, a miniature tankard with a stag-head handle and a green felt-covered base, two low-profile oval wooden blocks, and various cylindrical designs in polished wood and leather wraps. One cylindrical lighter is finished with a printed world map wrap. Several pieces bear legible markings to their bases for the manufacturer Ronson. A gold-toned adhesive label reads RONSON Regd. Trade Mark MADE IN ENGLAND, while a circular metal base is marked in relief with RONSON Regd. T.M. MADE IN ENGLAND. Another piece features an inset metal component marked RONSON and MADE IN ENGLAND.
Condition report:
The collection shows signs of wear consistent with age and use throughout. Scuffs, minor scratches, and shallow indentations are visible to the wooden surfaces and leather-wrapped casings (photo 1). Metal lighting mechanisms show varying degrees of oxidation, pitting, and surface wear, particularly to the chrome-plated and brass-toned components (photo 2). Some base labels and the green felt pad on the tankard base show edge wear and discolouration (photo 4). The internal mechanisms are untested for functionality and completeness.
